We recently engaged Gateway Constructions to build a four bedroom home with a storeroom, media room and study on a steep block of land in Brinsmead. The house component of the project was approximately $500,000 in value, presenting challenges in planning and implementation encompassing hill slopes legislation, hydrology, pitch of the slope, and access. From initial contact in January 2012 until completion in September 2013 this company led by Jim Margach proved itself capable of managing these obstacles in an affable, professional and efficient manner keeping the project on time and catering to our needs as clients. The original ideas for the dwelling were customised along the way to suit legislation and our requirements, the end result being an impressive dwelling with a commanding presence in the suburb.
Gateways ventilated wall system has ensured the house itself is without peer for tropical living, in the three months we have resided in the house we have only had to use the air-conditioning three or four nights between November and February, most of the time fans were also unnecessary.
Attention to detail and quality of finish by the trades engaged was in my opinion also excellent delivering a house that leaves no annoying little reminders of how things should have been done if a little more care was taken so commonplace in the modern building industry. From the edges where cabinetry meets walls to the sealed edges of skirting boards and bathroom glass the finish is seamless.
During the build Gateway was highly responsive to any concerns and questions raised, their system of quality control in which the sale manager Adam Dunne visits sites daily to check progress and liaise between the foreman and head office ensuring plans turn into reality the first time around.
Office staff were always courteous and welcoming on our numerous attendances at the Hartley Street offices and any correspondence or questions relating to contracts and invoices were dealt with quickly and clearly by office manager Shelley Zoia. This superior project management allowed my wife and myself to continue running our busy veterinary practice and family commitments comfortable in the knowledge that the i's were being dotted and t's crossed by Gateway Constructions.
Despite a challenging and convoluted building process, construction deadlines were met according to schedule delivering a dwelling that is a pleasure to reside within.
